Common services centres will now have ration card-related services
The food and public distribution department and CSC have signed a memorandum of understanding to enable ration card services through 3.7 lakh CSCs.
Individuals can now avail of services related to ration card, such as applying for a new card, updating details and seeding with Aadhaar at common services centres (CSC). Over 3.7 lakh common services centres (CSC) will provide these facilities across the country. This will also help 23.64 crore ration cardholders in India. Ministry of electronics and IT’s special purpose vehicle, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd has collaborated with the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution to improve upon ration deliveries and strengthen public distribution system (PDS) in semi-urban and rural areas.
The food and public distribution department and CSC have signed a memorandum of understanding to enable ration card services through 3.7 lakh CSCs. Those who want to get a new ration card can now visit their nearest CSC to put in the request application.
“Following our partnership with the department of food and public distribution, our village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) who run CSCs will be able to reach out to those without ration cards and help them get access to the public distribution system and various government schemes for free ration,” CSC e-Governance Services India Managing Director Dinesh Tyagi said.
The fair price shops will also have online services of CSC like PM welfare schemes, G2C services, education and skilling courses, financial services, health care and utility bill payments services.
