Covid-19: Over 37,593 new cases registered in the last 24 hours

India has reported 37,593 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total recoveries across the country so far are 3,17,54,281. According to the health ministry’s data, 34,169 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

The active caseload is currently at 3,22,327 with a cumulative total of 3.25 crore cases. The national recovery rate of Covid-19 has increased to 97.67% with 34,169 patients recovering during the last 24 hours till 8:00 am. The active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.98%, the lowest since March 2020.

The weekly positivity rate stands at 1.92%, less than 3% for the last 61 days. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 2.10% less than 3% for the last 30 days.

The testing capacity has also been substantially ramped up to 51.11 crores in the country.

Vaccination drive

Cumulative vaccine doses administered so far have reached 59.55 crores.

The vaccination coverage had crossed 59.47 Crore (59,47,65,751) as per the 7 pm provisional report on August 24. The report stated that more than 54 lakh (54,67,551) vaccine doses had been administered.

The new phase of universalisation of the vaccination programme commenced from June 21. Under the programme, the central government made inoculation free of cost for all adults. Vaccines were earlier free for people above 45 years of age.

According to the ministry, more than 70% of the deaths that have been reported are due to comorbidities.
