Hurun Global Rich List: 10 from Hyderabad in list, pharma barons lead the way

The latest edition of Hurun Global Rich List has listed 10 billionaires from Hyderabad. These 10 individuals cumulatively own a wealth of $ 22.6 billion.

This puts Hyderabad fifth on the list after Mumbai with 60 billionaires, Delhi (40), Bengaluru (22) and Ahmedabad (11).

Of the 10 billionaires featured on the list from Hyderabad, seven are pharma barons. Divi Lab’s Murali Divi and family were ranked 20th in India and 385 globally with a wealth of Rs 54,100 crore. PV Ramprasad Reddy and family of Aurobindo Pharma ranked 56 in India and 1,096 worldwide with a net worth of Rs 22,600 crore.

Hetero Drugs’ B Parthasaradhi Reddy & family (3rd spot in Hyderabad and 83rd in India) is the latest entrant to the list this year with a wealth of Rs 16,000 crore.

Dr Reddy’s Labs’ K Satish Reddy and family and GV Prasad also featured on the billionaires’ list with wealth of Rs 12, 800 crore and Rs 10,700 crore, respectively.

Other pharma barons on the list include MSN Labs’ M Satyannarayana Reddy and family (143rd in India) and Natco Pharma’s VC Nannapaneni (164th in India) with a wealth of Rs 9,800 crore and Rs 8,600 crore, respectively.

The three remaining billionaires featured in the coveted club include Megha Engineering & Infrastructures’ P Pitchi Reddy (134th in India), My Home Industries’ Rameswar Rao Jupally and family (138th in India), and Megha Engineering’s PV Krishna Reddy (140th in India) with a wealth of Rs 10, 600 crore, Rs 10, 500 crore and Rs 10, 200 crore, respectively.

The global rich list this year ranked 3,228 billionaires from 2,402 companies and 68 countries.
