Mazagon Dock to recruit 425 trade apprentices

The Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL), a government of India undertaking, has invited applications for the recruitment of trade apprentices for one year to two years. The recruitment drive will fill up 425 vacancies in different departments. Eligible and interested candidates can apply online for this post through the official website of MDL at mazagondock.in.

The online application window for the aforesaid posts is already open. The last date of online application submission is August 10, 2021.

Total number of Vacancies 425. Trade-wise tentative number of seats is as follows:

Group A (10th class passed)

Draftsman (mechanical): 20 posts

Electrician: 34 posts

Fitter: 62 posts

Pipe fitter: 72 posts

Structural fitter: 63 posts

Group B (ITI passed)

Fitter structural: 20 posts

Electrician: 15 posts

Pipe fitter: 15 posts

Welder: 15 posts

Computer operator and programming assistant: 15 posts

Carpenter: 21 posts

Group C (8th class passed)

Welder (gas and electric): 26 posts

Rigger: 47 posts

Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification:

The required academic qualification is different for these posts. All details are given below:

Group A: The candidate should have passed the secondary school certificate (SSC) or matriculation examination with general science and mathematics and secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Group B: Passed ITI in related trades from any government or government recognised institute with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Group C: Passed 8th standard (under 10 + 2 system) with science and mathematics with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates with higher qualifications may also apply. However, eligibility will be based on the 8th standard qualification only.

There will be minimum marks relaxation for the candidates belonging to the reserved category. Also, note that one applicant will be eligible to apply for both group A and C but they are required to submit separate application forms for each group.

One application will be considered for one group only. ITI passed candidates will not be allowed for Group A and C.

Age limit:

Group A: Between 15 to 19 years as on August 1, 2021

Group B: Between 16 to 21 years as on August 1, 2021

Group C: Between 14 to 18 years as on August 1, 2021

Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for reserved category candidates as per government guidelines.

Training duration

Group A: Two years

Group B: One year

Group C: For rigger two years and for welder (gas and electric) one year and three months.
