North Central Railway to operate first AC three-tier economy coach on Jaipur-Prayagraj route
The coaches are capable of running at an optimum speed of 160 km per hour and will have 83 berths instead of 72 in the current coaches
Train no. 02403/02404 Prayagraj-Jaipur-Prayagraj daily special express will be the first Indian train to operate the AC three tier economy coach from September 6, according to a Mint report. The fares on this coach from Prayagraj to Jaipur is only Rs 1,085, the fare from Prayagraj to Agra is Rs 740 and the fare from Prayagraj to Mathura is Rs 835. As compared to the conventional three tier coaches the fares on these economy coaches is going to be 8% lower. These coaches will be soon introduced on all long-distance trains.
Features of three tier AC economy coach
The coaches will have 83 berths as compared to 72 in the conventional three-tier coaches. It will also be designed specially for the convenience of differently abled people. Also, modern arrangements for mobile phones, magazine holders and fire safety have been made.
Other key features like personalised reading lights, AC vents, USB points, mobile charging points, better ladder to climb the upper berth and snack table have also been included.
The coaches are capable of running at an optimum speed of 160 km per hour. AC ducts have also been redesigned to provide individual AC vents for each berth. Public address and passenger information systems have also been installed as a part of passenger facilities in these coaches.
Each coach is provided with a wider and one disabled-friendly toilet entry door which is a new initiative. The coach’s interior has luminescent aisle markers, illuminated berth indicators integral with night lights and luminescent berth numbers.
