The online application facility has made getting  a passport easy. A few years back a pssport would take about 2-3 months to arrive, now it takes just a few days. But often many people’s applications get rejected due to minor mistakes. To get it rectified, they have to visit the passport office several times. If you are also going to get a passport, then avoid making these mistakes.

Typographical errors Typing errors are often seen while filling the online application form. Misspellings, mistakes in date of birth and residential address are quite common. In such a situation, while applying for passport, the applicants should see that there is no spelling mistake, or no information is left out.

Wrong document Applicants often put wrong or copy documents which are not officially listed by the passport office while filling the form. For example, if you are asked for proof of address, you can include Aadhaar card, water bill, post-paid telephone bill, electricity bill, tax assessment bill, etc. Do not attach documents which are not included in the approved list of passport office.

Signature mismatch There have been many cases where the signatures of the applicants do not match in the various documents submitted during the application process. In this case, attach a copy of those documents in which your signature is same. Apart from this, keep your signature on a paper and keep it with you, in future you will remember how you signed.

Unpaid bills One of the primary reasons many passports get rejected can be non-payment or late payment of bills. These documents are thoroughly scrutinized when copies of your water, electricity, mobile phone or credit card bills etc. are attached. Irregularities in bill payment or large debts make your image suspicious to the passport office, due to which many times the application is rejected.

Blur photocopy Many photocopies of supporting documents submitted in the application process are misprinted, black and illegible. Due to this passport office does not understand your details properly, due to this also applications are rejected. To avoid such a situation, try that whatever document you are attaching should be clear and clear.
