Pune airport to remain closed for 14 days; check details here

Due to resurfacing work being carried out on the runway, the Pune airport will remain closed for 14 days from October 16, the airport said on Tuesday through twitter. It also added that the airport will remained closed for all commercial flights between 16 October 2021 and 29 October 2021, as per information received from the IAF. The tweet read as follows, “This is to inform all passengers that as per information received from Indian Air Force (IAF), due to runway resurfacing works,  all flights from Pune Airport will not operate for 14 days from 16 October 2021 to 29 October 2021″.

Earlier, the maintenance work on the runway was proposed to be undertaken in April, but was postponed and will now be carried out later this month. The Pune airport is used by IAF as well as civil aircraft and is maintained by the IAF.

Ahmedabad airport closed partially

Similarly, Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, considered as one of the busiest non-metro airports in the country, will be shut down partially between January to May due to major maintenance work.

According to a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued on Thursday, the airport will be shut for nine hours daily between 3:30 AM and 12:30 PM, from 3rd January 2022 to 31st May 2022, with an exception Sundays and national holidays.

The airport’s partial shutdown comes at a time when the domestic air passenger traffic is seeing some green shoots, following a downward spiral during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
